This cage is a container for a hanging mobile of 32 paper doll figures that represent various identity defining social constructs. Random portions of the dictionary definition of the word 'shadow' are printed on the backs of each paper doll, indicating unconscious aspects of identity.
The 32 figures are attached to a common string and hang like puppets, all the same shape and size. They fit in the cage when stacked together, with the hole in back of the cage being the same shape and size, making any exit impossible unless all 32 paper dolls are evenly aligned with each other and the hole.
'Definition #33' is the freedom of detachment from all constructs of identity.
